Motivation through new technology

It is well known that motivation is a key factor in language learning. Using educational technology can be highly motivating for students and teachers, although the introduction of new technology should be done ‘carefully and critically’, and for good pedagogical reasons. This session will critically analyse many exciting uses of technology as a motivating factor in the language classroom and beyond, and show how concepts like ‘gamification’ can be successfully used with today’s students.
