Show notes

Introduction

It’s the 2nd of June 2021. Welcome to episode 16 of the Delivering Development podcast, helping language teachers and others in the field to enhance their professional development. My name is Kevin Westbrook, and with me today are Laura Styles, Neil Bullock and our special guest, Mandy Welfare.

Topics

Neil and I became involved in a post on LinkedIn from someone until then unknown to me, Mandy Welfare. And when I say “involved”, it became a long thread with many contributions of many different types! By the time we recorded the podcast, it had had over 5,500 views! The basic subject of the thread was learning vocabulary, and given the range of responses to what had been a fairly throw-away comment about learning a new word in a Berlin cafe, we thought it would be great to record a podcast on the subject and to invite Mandy to join us.

In the same way that Microsoft has in-house names for their products, our name for this podcast is “croissants and cauliflowers”. You will have to listen to find out why, but we had a great time recording it and I am confident that we will be asking Mandy to join us in future podcasts.
